What they pay
Both programs pay 85% of your average weekly wage, up to $1,119 a week in 2026:
- Temporary disability — when an illness or injury that isn't work-related keeps you from working.
- Family leave — to bond with a new child or care for a seriously ill family member: up to 12 weeks in a row in 12 months, or up to 56 separate days.
To qualify you need, in your base year, 20 weeks earning at least $310 a week, or $15,500 in total.
Why the rates changed
New Jersey resets both rates each year. For 2026 SDI fell from 0.23% to 0.19% and FLI from 0.33% to 0.23%, while the wage base rose to $171,100.
