What comes out of a Oklahoma paycheck

Oklahoma has a graduated income tax. For 2026 the top rate is 4.5%, down from 4.75%. Employers withhold it with the Tax Commission's OW-2 tables, using the percentage method:

  1. Start with your pay subject to income tax for this paycheck — after a traditional 401(k) and pre-tax health insurance.
  2. Subtract your OK-W-4 allowances. Each one is worth $1,000 a year, split across your paychecks: $19.23 weekly, $38.46 every two weeks, $41.67 twice a month or $83.33 monthly.
  3. Find what's left in the Single or Married table for your pay period. Pay up to the first row is not taxed; after that the table adds 2.5%, 3.5% and then 4.5% on each slice.
  4. Round the result to the nearest whole dollar.

The only state line in this calculator for an Oklahoma paycheck is income tax.

What's different about Oklahoma

A tax-free first slice of pay

Each OW-2 table starts with a slice that has no withholding. Over a full year that slice is $10,100 on the Single table and $20,200 on the Married table, before allowances. Paid twice a month, for example, the Single table starts taxing at $421 and the Married table at $842.

Your OK-W-4

The OK-W-4 has three filing choices: Single, Married, or "Married, but withhold at higher Single rate". The last one uses the Single table, so more is held back. There is no head-of-household box, so we use the Single table when your federal W-4 says head of household. For allowances, you count 1 for yourself, 1 for a spouse who doesn't work, and 1 for each dependent. Each allowance lowers your yearly Oklahoma wages for withholding by $1,000.

Whole-dollar rounding

Oklahoma withholding is rounded to the nearest dollar each paycheck: under 50 cents is dropped, 50 cents or more goes up. Small changes in your pay may not change it at all.

Paydays and your last paycheck

Most Oklahoma employees must be paid all wages due at least twice each calendar month. If you quit or are fired, your employer can wait until the next regular payday to pay your final wages. If you're not paid what you're owed, you can file a wage claim with the Oklahoma Department of Labor online or by mail.

Why your paycheck might differ from this

Tips and overtime in 2026

New federal deductions apply for 2025 through 2028: up to $25,000 for qualified tips, and up to $12,500 ($25,000 for joint filers) for the extra "half" of time-and-a-half overtime. Both phase out above $150,000 of income ($300,000 joint).

These are deductions on your tax return. Your employer still takes Social Security and Medicare out of tips and overtime, and still withholds income tax unless you tell it otherwise. If you expect to claim them, you can put the expected amount in Step 4(b) of your W-4 (and in the Step 4(b) box above) so less income tax is withheld during the year.
